Gobi Desserts

Dont underestimate its tiny size, it has got mighty power! That is the overpowering of sweetness that can sweeten you to cloud 9. No kidding! I dont really have a sweet tooth and 3 pieces is enough to make me lose my taste buds. Therefore, a friendly advice is not to finish all at one go.. take a break in between. =p Nevertheless, my favourites will be the 'pink macaron with strawberries and cream' and the 'coffee and dark chocolate opera'...yummy~ Certainly, i will still go back to Gobi for sweet treats but will opt for The Chocolate Factory instead.

Location: Katong Mall/Central
Price: $12.80 for 6 pieces
Rating: Good!

Mango with Pomelo + Sago

If you love mango, you'll love this to bits! I like it because it has the natural taste and sweetness of mango. And genourous amount of fresh mango cubes, sago and pomelo bits are added for the extra 'oomph'. The sweet, sour, bitter combination makes it more addictive. A great dessert to chill on a hot day! Other recommended desserts i've tried is the dried beancurd with gingko nuts and steam carrot cake which doesnt taste like a mash of flour. Really must try..

Location: Chinatown, Mei Heong Yuen Dessert
Price: $3.50
Rating: Die die must try!

Dim Sum

You dont have visit chinese restaurants for dim sum treats. You can enjoy 'homemade' style dim sum for just $2.00 per plate at Xiang Mei's. No gst or service charge! For most of their dishes, shrimp meat is often used for a better taste and texture. If dim sum doesnt fill, you can order cantonese styled tze char as well.

Location: South Bridge Road, Xiang Mei Restaurant
Price: $15++ (for 2)
Rating: Good!

The Roti Prata House

They claim to serve the crispiest prata in Singapore and its highly recommended by The New Paper. No doubt the crispiness is there but it lacks the 'airy chewy effect'. Rather, its more of like biting on a chocolate chip cookie.

If you happen to pass by this shop along Thomson Road, i would recommend you their Mee Goreng and Curry Chicken. The mee goreng is served with fresh cabbage, cucumber, some assorted veggie and beancurd. If some chicken meat is added, it would defintely taste more heavenly. Chicken curry is light and the meat is tender and smooth, no regrets and not to be missed!.

Location: Upper Thomson Road
Price: $12 (avg for 2)
Rating: Above average.
